![]() The name Becco is derived from the Italian verb, beccare, which means to peck, nibble or savor something in a discriminating way. Lidia Bastianich and her son, Joseph, opened Becco in 1993, with the idea that authentic, hearty portions of Italian food could be served at a different price point than at Felidia, the family's established East Side restaurant. The most popular dishes at this theater district favorite include mounds of assorted Italian antipasti, unlimited servings of three different homemade pasta preparations, the porcini rubbed ribeye steak, 'Joe's grilled veal chop' and a wide selection of Italian wines, all priced at $20.00 per bottle.
